The paramount ruler of the Tiv Nation and President of the Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Tor Tiv, Professor James Ayatse, has appealed to those planning national protests from 1 August 2024, to suspend their plans and allow seamless implementation of measures to address the discontent in the country.
The Tor Tiv said that if the protest is shelved, it will allow the government time to meet the demands of the planners.
In a statement signed by his Media Assistant, Freddie Adamgbe, the Tor Tiv expressed his belief that suspending the peaceful national protest might deny enemies of the country the opportunity to hijack the protest to achieve sinister goals.
The Tor Tiv acknowledged the suffering in the country, appreciated and identified with the feelings of the people at a time like this, and appealed to people in his domain, Benue State, and the general public to exercise patience and give the Federal Government more time to address the hunger, the general high cost of living, and insecurity in the country.
