Excellence, according to Aristotle, is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort and intelligent execution. Corporate lawyer turned public officer, Tokunbo Phillip Wahab, obviously believes so much in this ancient Greek polymaths theory. He believes excellence, indeed, is not by luck but a wise choice of many alternatives and taking charge in challenging moments. As a top member of Lagos State Executive Council since 2019 till date first as Special Adviser to the Governor on Education and now as the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources Wahab has been on a roll. In his former role as Special Adviser on Education, Wahab, fondly called TW, drew a load of applause from far and wide. He proved to all that hes a pragmatic reformer with novel initiatives and positive landmarks that situated Lagos State at the apex of the map. Upon the return of Governor Sanwo-Olu for the second term, he tapped Wahab back to his team as his Commissioner in charge of a very critical ministry: Environment. No easy task given the complexity of Lagos as a megalopolis, Wahab started with a bang. As an administrator par excellence, he has dared to tread the path where angels dread, confronting the Lagos environmental challenges hands on. The task for the promotion of cleaner, greener Lagos is daunting but so far, Wahab has applied consistency and tact in confronting them thus justifying the assertion that any serious minded person will fit into almost any ministry as commissioner or minister and make a difference.
