To those who have encountered Tokunbo Phillip Wahab, a lawyer, and even the distant public, they all can testify to his character, temperament, and sensibilities. The accomplished lawyer cum politician exemplifies and embodies most of the essential traits of a quintessential Omoluabi. As a classic Omoluabi, Wahab believes in hard work, respects the rights of others, and gives to the community in deeds and in action. As someone who was raised in a middle class family, Wahab understands the struggles of not being born into privilege and acts in accordance —with empathy, dignity and generosity. This is the same mentality he brought into public service as the Special Adviser on Education to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
As a technocrat in politics —since his appointment in 2019— Wahab has proven to be a breath of fresh air in politics and public service as he lived up to his reputation as one of the pillars of the Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration. Blessed with a visceral quality of thinking, the debonair gentleman has never hesitated to open up not just his purse strings but also his hearts as he socially and economically empowered so many people quietly. His birthday was an ample opportunity many look forward to celebrate this great guy.
Thus on Wednesday May 17 when he clocked 51, there was a dossier of testimonies, encomiums, accolades and felicitations from friends, political associates and mostly beneficiaries of his good deeds who all came out to celebrate the gentleman. Unlike this time last year when he clocked the golden age of 50 and literally shot down the elite’ haven of Banana Island, Lagos there was no loud revelry. However, the Ketu Epe-born Wahab was full of thanksgiving to Almighty God for His faithfulness in his life.
The University of Benin law graduate is a Partner at Wall and Ace Law Firm —with an extensive experience across all strata of the legal practice. Wahab is also an alumnus of the prestigious Harvard Kennedy School of Government and the Wharton University of Pennsylvania.
