A Nigerian firm, Tochil Group, has successfully signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China’s GAC Energy Technology Company Limited.
The official paperwork was duly assented to by the parties after they had reached a business thriving agreement.
Established in 1997 as a leading state-owned automotive group, GAC has given express approval for Tochil Group to serve as not just a partner, but a development expert for the setting up of charging stations in Nigeria, for Electric Vehicles (EVs).
The MoU was endorsed on June 4, between the CEO of Tochil Group, Dr. Tochil Nwaneri and his GAC counterpart, Xu Wenqiang, in China.
Prior to the agreement, GAC had conducted a competence survey on Tochil’s brand.
Part of the signed contract stipulated that Tochil Group on the long run would avail Nigerian drivers the opportunity for EV’s, which he would procure for them for deeper integration into the nation’s automotive energy system.
Just as a service provider in Nigeria, Nwaneri hinted that the process includes balanced integrating charging, battery swapping and ultra-fast energy.
He further explained that smart digital energy creates value for a better green mobile life.
Interesting component of the contract which Nigerians stand to enjoy said that while there would be charging stations for electric cars, it would also promote battery recycling and vehicle to grid integration.
Nwaneri expressed readiness to contribute his quota to the growth and development of Nigeria, pointing out that attracting the investment from China stemmed from his deep sense of egalitarianism.
He noted that globally, people have embraced latest innovations like the charging stations for electric vehicles, disclosing that the stations would be available at strategic cities across Nigeria.
He said that the firm looked forward to partnering governments, agencies, parastatals, corporate and individual bodies.
