President Bola Tinubu met with Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly Martins Amaewhule, and others on Thursday.

During the meeting, Tinubu reportedly reconciled all parties involved, and pictures shared on social media suggested a resolution to the prolonged crisis, which had led to the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers.

One of the images posted on X captures the moment the president, Fubara, and the ministers smiled as they all interacted with one another.

While no official comment has been made on the meeting, indications show that the state of emergency declaration in the aforementioned state may be coming to an end.

Following Governor Fubara’s suspension, prominent Nigerians voiced their disapproval, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, Atedo Peterside, Nasir El-Rufai, Femi Falana, the Labour Party (LP), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Nigerian Bar Association, the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), among others.

With the latest development, the conflict between Fubara and his predecessor Wike seems to have also ended.
