President Bola Tinubu has filled key vacancies across the governing councils of several federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, according to a statement released by the Presidency on Wednesday.

The appointments, according to Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, which take immediate effect, are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the leadership of Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.

The newly appointed members represent a diverse range of states and institutions nationwide.

Among the appointments, Hon Chidi Nwogu from Imo State was named to the African Aviation and Aerospace University, Abuja. Dr Folashade Mulikat Kareem from Kwara State joins the University of Jos, Plateau State, while Dipe Olusina Adeniyi from Lagos State was appointed to the Federal University of Technology, Ikot-Abasi, Akwa-Ibom State.

Other notable appointments include Akanimo Umoh from Akwa Ibom State to the Federal University of Technology, Babura, Jigawa State; Mr Babatunde Usman Jinadu from Lagos State to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi State; and Chijioke Paul Okeifufe from Enugu State to the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State.

The list continues with Babatunde Olokun (Ogun State) and Hon. Isah Ambaka (Nasarawa State) to the Federal University, Kashere, Gombe State; Olusegun Ategbole (Ondo State) to the Federal University, Wukari, Taraba State; and Isa Song (Adamawa State) and Bernard Miko (Rivers State) to the Federal University, Gashua, Yobe State.

The Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun, Osun State, welcomes Muyideen Balogun from Ogun State, while Mayegun Yomi from Lagos State joins the Federal University of Agriculture, Zuru, Kebbi State. Abbas Braimah from Edo State is now a member of the Federal University, Gusau, Zamfara State.

Other appointments are as follows: Adebimpe Adebajo (Ondo State) to Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa State; Hon. Bawa Bwari (Niger State) to Nigeria Arabic Language Village, Borno State; Bello Bagudu (Kebbi State) and Nasarawa Mani (Katsina State) to Federal University of Health Sciences, Katsina, Katsina State.

The federal polytechnics and colleges of education sector also received fresh appointments. Shehu Kagara from Kaduna State joins the Federal Polytechnic Isuochi, Umunnoechi, Abia State; Francis Ogbise from Bayelsa State joins Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State; and Almajiri Geidam from Yobe State joins Federal Polytechnic Munguno, Borno State.

Rahila Ilegbodu from Taraba State is now a member of Federal Polytechnic, Orogun, Delta State, while Hon. Shehu Lambu from Kano State joins the National Institute of Construction Technology, Uromi, Edo State. Hon. Yusuf Bello Mai Adua from Sokoto State joins Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo, Gombe State; and Saleh Mohammed from Jigawa State is now at Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic, Kazaure, Jigawa State.

Hon. Adekola Aliu from Osun State joins Federal Polytechnic, Daura, Katsina State; Waidi Olajire Ayinla from Osun State joins Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State; and Hon. Hashimu Abdullahi from Sokoto State joins Federal Polytechnic, N’yak, Plateau State. Hon. Abdullahi Abubakar (At Ningi) from Bauchi State is now at Federal Polytechnic, Bali, Taraba State.

For the colleges of education, Ibrahim Abba Geidam from Yobe State joins Federal College of Education, Gwoza, Borno State; Mohammed Nura from Kebbi State joins Federal College of Education, Pankshin, Plateau State; and Abdulkadir Usman Global from Kaduna State joins Federal College of Education (Technical), Isu, Ebonyi State.

Usman Balkore from Sokoto State joins Federal College of Education (Technical), Ekiadolor, Edo State; Goodluck Opiah from Imo State joins Federal College of Education, Odugbo, Benue State. Federal College of Education, Omoku, Rivers State, welcomes Bassey Etim (Akwa Ibom State), Hon. Chris Eta (Cross River State), and Shuaib Yahaya (Katsina State).

Hon. Sani M. Anka from Zamfara State joins Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, Oyo State; Yusuf Dikko from Jigawa State joins Federal College of Education (Tech), Keana, Nasarawa State; and Deacon Taiye from Kwara State joins Federal College of Education, Ilawe, Ekiti State. Hon Isa Lawal Doro from Katsina State joins Federal College of Education (Technical) Asaba, Delta State.
