The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress ( APC), in Benue State, Barrister Emmanuel Jime, has attributed the infrastructural deficit in the state to the stealing of the state’s commonwealth in the last three and a half years.

“The stealing of our commonwealth is singularly responsible for the bad governance and infrastructural deficit we have seen in Benue in the last three and a half years.”

Jime who stated this on Thursday while participating in the media dialogue organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Benue State council, lamented that up till now, state workers and pensioners were still being owed months of salary and pension arrears despite huge funds gotten to offset them.

The APC guber hopeful who posited that if the state’s resources were properly managed, the government won’t be owing workers and pensions also wondered why the Benue State government could not run a Single Treasury Accounts like the Federal government as a way of blocking the loopholes in the state’s treasury.

“I think Benue is not as poor as we are made to believe. I even think we really don’t need a bailout if we manage our resources well.

“I want Benue citizens to feel truly proud about the government that will be put in place this Saturday,” Jime said.
