The Author of the Book, The Power of a Woman, Amb. Cynthia Obiorah National Director Women and Welfare UN-POLAC Foundation, recently launched her book along side the Polac Day, where hundreds of books was given out to participants who were present at the programme.
The book of 87 pages contains three parts: The Woman, The Power of a woman, Man and Sex. A second book entitled Dynamics of Parenting Styles” was also launched the same day.
The author said at the event at “this present time, and with what we are facing in our nation today, the woman needs to think and repackage herself so that she can dynamically train our children, and take her world.”
She further said the Nigerian woman was made to be “a second hand fiddle, migrated second hand person”, adding, “Even in our continent (Africa), women are relegated to the background, but then, she has to take up her God given position. As a woman God has made her, she must know her onions, too, to move forward.”
While speaking, the Director General, UN-POLAC, Nigeria, Prof. Obong Eton, called on all advocates of peace to advance peace against all odds, urging them to make the foundation more effective and efficient.
Dr Cynthia Obiorah, Director, Projects and Women Affairs UN-POLAC Foundation, noted that “violence put the brakes on development and impedes the evolution of people towards greater socio-economic and spiritual wellbeing.”
Obiorah, who noted that women were drivers and strategic partners of peace and sustainable development, said that true inclusivity of women needed to be at the forefront.
“Sustainable peace will only be possible if there is equal participation of all citizens-women and men- in the public life of their country and community. Equal representation provides a strong foundation for the development of sustainable peace,” Obiorah said.
Another recipient of Ambassador of Peace, Dr Prosper-Ohayagha Success, the Commissioner for Health, Imo State, remarked that the award given to him meant a lot to him, because peace couldn’t be over emphasised, urging the people to start preaching peace and uniting them.
“We need to start doing the right thing right now for us to build our nation. We need one nation. We need to tolerate our character, religious and political differences, and with that our children will be at peace with us,” he said, calling on the Nigerian youths to embrace peace.
Several eminent Nigerians were presented with various awards, including Apostle of Peace Award, Mayor of Peace, Mary Slessor Peace Award, Grand Commander of Peace, Officer of Peace, Distinguished Peace Advocate, Monarch of Peace, Evangelist For World Peace, among others.
