In the wake of the EndSars protests across the country in 2022, the upcoming general election has generated a lot of interest from Young Nigerians demanding a positive change in the country. This new wave of political awareness among young Nigerians is what brought about the collaboration between TASCK and BlueprintAfric to come up with the idea of the Creatives For Change event to further bridge the gap between creativity and social impact.

The Creatives For Change Networking session took place on Saturday, 27th of August, 2022 at The Playground, BlueAfric Media in Enugu. Born out of the need to promote the message of active involvement in the upcoming election. The event was attended by creatives, influencers, entrepreneurs and some prominent artists in the entertainment industry like MI Abaga and Illbliss, who came to share their insights on the topic.

MI Abaga, spoke extensively on what his team hopes to achieve and how they are actively working on championing the #Vote4Nigeria and #iregistered campaign while encouraging creatives and general attendees alike to use their platforms to drive active involvement in the upcoming elections. “Nigeria’s future rests in the hands of the young persons influencing people around them to get their PVCs”, he said.

Illbliss, also spoke at the event, he emphasized that youths would need to be more proactive for change to take place. He further spoke on collaboration among creatives and how it is a step in the right direction to create awareness and drive social impact.

A representative of TASCK, Todalael Kafang came on board as well, to speak on TASCK’s mission to help drive awareness and change during this current election period. She further stated what TASCK intends to achieve with the work they are doing in the creative industry, how they are working to create a platform to provide support for creatives to help them do what they want to do, and the various ways they intend to help creatives raise funds.

The networking session ended on a good note and the guests dispersed to prepare for the after party ‘The Enugu Block Party’ which was the concluding part of the overall event. The party kicked off with attendees connecting and meeting one another, musical performances started shortly after from fast rising artists, and then there were special performances from prominent acts such as Ifex G, Illbliss and eventually MI.

The event ended as a success, with creatives energized to form partnerships and create avenues for further promotion of the #Vote4Nigeria movement.
