The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party PDP for Taraba Central senatorial zone Alhaji Haruna Manu has won the Taraba central senatorial seat
after polling Seventy Five Thousand, Four Hundred and Sixty (75,460) votes.
The returning officer, Professor Oladapo Olarenwaju Philips of the Federal University Wukari, said Haruna Manu was declared winner having satisfied the requirements of the law for the election.
The state’s Deputy to Governor Darius Ishaku of defeats his closest rival Bashir Marafa of All Progressives Congress (APC) who polled Fifty Thousand, Four Hundred and Thirty Steven (50,437) votes.
In a speech shortly after the declaration, the senator elect and Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Haruna Manu expressed happiness and appreciated the people of the zone for giving him the opportunity to represent them at the National Assembly.
He promise to work tirelessly to bring development closer to the masses by collaborating with the executive arm of government to ensure the provision of constituency projects across the nooks and crannies of the zone.
Daily Sun reports that while Manu contested the Senatorial seat for Taraba Central, his principal and state Governor Darius Ishaku contested for Taraba South Senatorial district where he lost to the candidate of the APC in a major defeat.
