Members of the 2023 Tinubu Supporter’s Group, Disciples of Jagaban ( DOJ), have asked their National Coordinator, Adegoke Abdulhakeem Alawuje to reject the appointment given to him by President Bola Tinubu, pending when every member of the group is appointed.
However, Alawuje who was appointed recently as one of the board members of Federal College of Education, Yauri, Kebbi State, said it would be disrespectful to reject such offer from the President himself.
He appealed to his members to be patient as such offer could come their way soon and unexpectedly, adding that President Tinubu is aware of the sacrifices they made before, during and after the 2023 campaign.
In a statement to newsmen, Alawuje said he needed to speak out because he was under pressure from his member over the appointment.
“I can assure the group that President Tinubu is not trying to fail or disappoint them. I believe there is light at the end of the tunnel for everybody, and I remain committed to representing your interests through the right channels.
“But I want to make this clarification that I cannot reject the offer given to me, which was signed by the President himself, and I urge those who want me to reject it to reconsider theirs stance, because this is the reality of politics.
“I also believe that President Tinubu is fully committed to fixing Nigeria and I pray that those in positions of power will be guided by the Almighty God to act in the country’s best interests, setting aside their personal gains.
“I want to reiterate my decision to accept the offer extended to me, even if I am not celebrating it fully. I call on all those who want me to reject it to rethink their position, and I want to remind them that politics is complex and requires strategic decisions.
“For our Group, the success of President Tinubu is our primary goal. We believe that once the President succeeds in uprooting all the causes of the country’s challenges, even the opposition will be silenced, and those who remain stubborn will find themselves with nothing significant to campaign against.
“The group is aware of internal and external challenges, including those who claim to be allies within the same political party but who may have worked against their cause during the struggle.
“I acknowledge the surprise and disappointment felt by the group when those who tirelessly supported Tinubu during the struggle now make baseless accusations against the same government they fought so hard for.
“This disappointment often stems from dissatisfaction with the government’s reward scheme and the treatment received from those in charge.
“In this regard, I am pleading with all true Disciples of Tinubu to remain patience and calm. I believe that if the government fails to reward them based on their merits and contributions, the Almighty God will reward them in the most perfect way.
“I urge members to disregard those in charge of the reward system and instead focus on their ultimate goal of bringing the best leader to power, and be confident that no one can prevent God from providing them with their deserved reward.
“The focus must remain on the good work at hand. The group’s major achievement is the success of the man they helped to bring to power, and their personal rewards will follow.
“I want to remind us that no individual or group can diminish our importance, as we did not depend on anyone initially because we are fully aware of the games being played against us, as one of the most undeniable and leading Tinubu support groups across the country.
“I pray that the Almighty God assist and support President Tinubu in his mission to succeed, as well as to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria and all Nigerians. We should remain focused, patient, and united in our mission, trusting that our sacrifices will be rewarded in due time”. The statement said.
