From Laide Raheem, Abeokuta
The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) stakeholders in the state, has called on the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to order a special investigation into the alleged kidnapping and possible murder of a graduate of Lagos State University, Ojoo, Quadri Ogunbode.
Quadri was reportedly kidnapped on February 17, 2025 at a neighbourhood very close to a Celestial Church around LASU community in Lagos.
According to a preliminary police investigation, two suspects, including the shepherd in charge of the church were arrested and questioned over the disappearance of the LASU graduate. NAOSS, in a statement signed by its National President, Kehinde Thomas, on Friday, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, urged the IGP to allow his office to take over the case, citing police complicity in the matter.
According to him, police operatives at the Ojo and Panti Divisional Police Headquarters, have purportedly not done much to unravel the mysterious disappearance of Quadri, despite obvious evidence that linked the two suspects arrested to the case.
He disclosed that a visit to the Abeokuta home of Quadri revealed that his parents had parted with some amounts of money, allegedly collected by the police for tracking of the victim’s mobile phone.
He explained that NAOSS is taking over the struggle because the victim is a member of the association, declaring that failure by the police to unravel the case would lead to massive protest by the association.
