The National Association of University Students (NAUS) recently held its 6th Inauguration and swearing-in ceremony for its newly elected national executives at the National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja.
Themed “Transforming the Mentality of University Students Through Digital Skills, Cybersecurity, and Entrepreneurship,” the event brought together students, dignitaries, and key stakeholders committed to educational advancement.
Among the notable attendees were the Executive Secretary of TETFUND, Sonny S.T. Echono, and a representative of the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, Kaka Balarabe. Speaking on behalf of the Minister, Balarabe emphasized the importance of equipping Nigerian students with essential digital skills to prepare them for the evolving global workforce.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of an Award of Excellence to Student Energy, a Canada-based global non-profit dedicated to empowering young people in the clean energy sector.
With a presence in over 120 countries and a network of more than 50,000 young leaders, Student Energy is committed to fostering a sustainable and equitable energy future.
Speaking on behalf of the organization, Piper Stump, Global Community Manager at Student Energy, reaffirmed their mission to build a just and sustainable energy future through community building, education, and capacity development.
She also acknowledged the contributions of Moses Alalade, President of Student Energy’s Nigeria Global Chapters Network, who was recently elected NAUS National Ex-Officio 1.
Stump commended NAUS for its dedication to student advocacy and leadership, emphasizing the importance of youth-driven initiatives in shaping a sustainable future. The event underscored the growing intersection between education, technology, and sustainability, highlighting the crucial role of Nigerian students in driving innovation and social change.
