The Coalition of the Biafra Organisations has condemned the alleged attack on Igbo people residing in Lagos State and other parts of the country, saying it was a ploy to force them to vote against their conscience.
The coalition said the attacks were the height of intimidation and hatred, describing the February 23 presidential and National Assembly elections as “an exercise in idiocy, futility and at best, a rape of democracy.”
This is as the Eastern Peoples Front (EPF) has warned those attacking Igbos in Lagos over election matters to desist from seeing the Igbo man as a punching bag on the slightest electioneering provocation.
The group alleged that those behind the attacks were planning to do more during the forth-coming gubernatorial election, warning them to desist from such act as it would not offer them any good.
The Coordinator of the EPF, who is also the South-East Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Emeka Okafor, gave the warning in Umuahia while interacting with newsmen yesterday.
The coalition, which made their positions after their joint meeting in Enugu, included the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Eastern Peoples’ Congress (EPC), Igbo Youth Cultural and Restoration Initiative (IYCRI), Bilie Human Rights Initiative (BHRI), Movement of Biafrans in Nigeria (MOBIN), Salvation People of Biafra (SP), World Union of Biafran Scientists (WUBS), Shadow Government of Biafra (SGB) and Biafran National Liberation Council (BNLC).
Others were Biafran Revolutionary Organisation (BRO), Biafran Liberation Crusade (BLC), Joint Revolutionary Council of Biafra (JRCB), Biafra Revolutionary Force (BRF), Customary Government of Biafra (CGB), Biafran Intellectual Clergy Forum (BICF), Biafra Movement for Sovereignty (BIAMOS), Biafran Central Council (BCC) and Biafran United Liberation Council (BULCO).
In their resolution signed by Uchenna Madu for MASSOB, Nwada Eberechukwu Anigbogu for MOBIN, Innocent Amadi for BHRI and Okechukwu Orji for EPC on behalf of the coalition, they warned that no single Biafran blood shed would be in vain.
The groups said: “Each day, your Nigerian state helps us in consolidating our argument as Biafrans that this dysfunctional country allows the disparate entities trapped herein go their separate ways.
“What is more annoying is the blame game targeted against Biafrans whenever Nigeria goes on one of its useless spins. This time around, it is the sacred blood of Biafrans that must be sacrificed for a worthless exercise called an election. Throughout the preparation, campaigns and eventual execution of the fraud they called elections, Biafrans’ blood were shed not only in Biafraland but also across the nation.
“We wish to place it on notice that no single Biafran blood, shed, will be in vain. Assuredly, a detailed dossier of these perpetrators is being religiously updated. At its fulltime and season, we will bring the perpetrators to justice.”
