APC chieftain in Osun State Olatunbosun Oyintiloye has urged opposition parties to stop blaming President Bola Tinubu for their members’ defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oyintiloye, a former APC Presidential Campaign Council member, advised opposition parties to address internal issues and embrace democracy instead.

He attributed the wave of defections to ideological persuasion, not coercion, citing unresolved internal conflicts within opposition parties. “So many defectors claimed that they were sidelined, undermined, unfairly treated by their former parties,” Oyintiloye stated.

He linked the trend to APC’s transformative “Renewed Hope Agenda” under Tinubu, predicting more defections, particularly from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Oyintiloye dismissed claims that defections could lead to a one-party system, noting that over 60 registered parties exist.

“Rather than opposition parties blaming the president or ruling party, they must develop a robust strategy to check the trend,” he said, advocating for transparent primaries and inclusive decision-making.
