The famous St George’s College, Obinomba, Ukwani Local Government Area of Delta State, class of 79 is set to honour two major All Progressives Congress, (APC) bigwigs; the former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and John Babatunde Ogala, (SAN), a former national legal adviser of the APC. 
This was made known by the Chairman, Central Organising Committee, COC, Onotu Henry Okechukwu in a press statement issued in Abuja at the weekend.
Okechukwu who is one of the major pillars of the event slated for Saturday, January 11, 2025 said the activities to mark the maiden award ceremony of one of the oldest citadels of learning in the South-South geopolitical zone of the counry to outstanding members of Class of 79, has commenced.
According to him, the former Deputy President of the 9th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Omo-Agege, the former National legal adviser who is also the attorney to Pesident Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ogala, and Dr. John Uhomoibhi.
The statement said the trio have distinguished themselves in their various endeavours and have contributed immensely to the growth and development of the flagship educational institution in the geopolitical zone.
The statement described the maiden edition of the award ceremony of the Saint George’s as a ‘mother of all reunions’ of old students in the country noting that God has richly blessed the institution with excellent alma maters who he said have been able to influence the fortunes and attract goodwill to the institution.
The COC stated that the objectives of the programme includes: “reconnecting and reuniting former classmates who haven’t seen each other in decades, reminiscing on school days, teachers, and shared experiences.
Other objectives, according to Okechukwu’s Committee, are: celebrating enduring friendships formed during their secondary school years, giving awards to deserving classmates that have contributed to development in the school and the country.
At the re-union ceremony, the organisers said the association will encourage the study of science in the school including incentives to brilliant science
teachers and scholarship for the best science student.
The organisers said novelty march between the students and class of 79, Dinner/Gala night with carefully selected seniors students and teachers, will add colour to the event.
They listed as special guests at the event; Engr Billy Agha, Onotu Prosper Okpue and Dr (Engr) G O C.Amuchi; the Commissioner for Finance, Delta State, who is also an alma mater of the institution and the Current National President of Class 79, Chief Fidelis Okenmor Tilije.
