Sprout by Barinaada Legal (BL) made history with its successful debut in Lagos, marking the first-ever event hosted by a Nigerian legal practitioner aimed exclusively at empowering business owners, startup founders, and entrepreneurs.
Themed “From Idea to Borderless Growth,” Sprout by BL 2024 brought together some of Africa’s brightest innovators for an enriching day filled with expert-led panels, workshops, fireside chats, and exclusive networking opportunities.
Designed to foster connections and drive sustainable growth across borders, the event offered invaluable insights into the intersection of legal frameworks, business strategies, and scalable innovation.
A distinguished roster of speakers took center stage, including Ruth Okunuga (Founder, Wasche Point), Blessing Jessica Obasi-Nze (Actress, Filmmaker, CEO, Desparanza Media), Chris Ajieh (Entertainment Lawyer, Barinaada Legal), and Nnamani Nonso Stanley (Czar), CEO of Stakecut. Other prominent contributors included Babatunde Akin-Moses (Co-founder, Sycamore), Ayodeji Agboola (Founder, Akowe), and Olatunde Victor Adeoluwa (CEO, SalesPlat). These thought leaders offered practical strategies on everything from startup scalability and legal compliance to innovative business models and financial readiness.
One of the defining features of Sprout by BL 2024 was its pioneering approach to blending business acumen with legal education, a unique offering from a legal practitioner. Barinaada Iheanacho, founder of Barinaada Legal and the event’s organizer, explained, “Sprout by BL is more than just an event; it’s a movement to create a community of legally-conscious entrepreneurs who are empowered to build and sustain successful businesses.”
The event truly lived up to its promise, offering a premium experience that included exclusive resource packs, live music performances, and gourmet cuisine—creating an atmosphere of inspiration and collaboration.
The morning’s keynote address by Ruth Okunuga, who stepped in at the last moment, was particularly well-received, further enhancing the event’s dynamic and engaging environment.
“The response has been overwhelmingly positive,” Barinaada commented. “We’re building a platform where African startups can flourish and scale beyond borders. This is just the beginning.”
With plans already in motion for Sprout by BL 2025, speakers, attendees, and participants are eager for next year’s edition, which promises to be even more impactful and expansive.
