The Southwest Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus in Ekiti State for endorsing Governor Biodun Oyebanji for a second term in the 2026 gubernatorial election.

The APC’s endorsement occurred at a special caucus meeting in Iyin-Ekiti on April 18.

In a statement on Sunday, April 20, Southwest PDP Spokesperson Chief Sanya Atofarati accused APC leaders of prioritising selfish gains over Ekiti’s economic challenges. He claimed Oyebanji has achieved little in over two years, stating, “It is an understatement to say Governor Oyebanji has failed Ekiti people in all areas of governance.”

Atofarati pointed to dilapidated schools, impassable roads, rising insecurity, and unsustainable state debt, alleging that no physical projects have been commissioned.

He added, “In a sane society, the likes of former Governor Kayode Fayemi would be facing criminal prosecution,” citing an abandoned N21 billion airport project.
