Concerned persons from Southern part of Kaduna State, otherwise known as Zone 3, under the aegis of Coalition of Southern Kaduna Nationalities (CSKN), have threatened to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the coming governorship election for alleged betrayal by its Zone One counterpart during the presidential and national assembly elections.
They said while they worked hard to give PDP victory in Zone 3, their political partners in zone one, where the PDP governorship candidate, Isah Ashiru and other political heavy weights hail from, worked for the success of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the last elections.
Former Vice President, Namadi Sambo, former governor of the state, Ahmed Makarfi, the immediate past governor of the state, Ramalan Yero, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, among others, are from zone one, but, according to the group, they all failed to deliver their council areas in the presidential election.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Coordinator of the coalition, Dr. Yusuf Gandu Magaji, expressed regrets for pitching their tent with the opposition, saying they left APC four years ago for unfair socio-political treatment.
Magaji said: “While we agree that the ruling party has short-changed the Southern Kaduna people and has not treated us fairly and justly in the past four years, there is a reason to become skeptical with PDP today.
“This is by virtue of the betrayal of trust glaringly emanating from the PDP camp. There is ample reason to doubt the sincerity of key party stalwarts by the strength of the results of the elections of February 23, 2019.”
