From Laide Raheem, Abeokuta

A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Save Our Soul Village, Ikija-Ijebu in Ijebu-East Local Government Area of Ogun State, has donated school bags, food flasks, lunch bags and writing materials to the pupils of Ikija Ijebu Community Primary School.

Donating the materials totalling 150, the National Director of SOS Children Villages, Eghosa Erhumwunse said the donation of the school materials to the pupils was organized in conjunction with IUX as part of the activities to commemorate the 2025 International Children’s Day.

Represented by the Chief Programme Officer of the SOS Villages, Ayodeji Adelopo at the event, Erhumwunse informed the school authorities that the school bags, lunch bags and other  materials were donated to support pupils in the community and assist the state government in the promotion of quality education.

He noted that having access to quality education goes beyond coming to school, adding that the pupils will need to have the right materials needed and the resources required to receive lessons, to take notes and to carry their items.

While saying that the NGO traverses every nook of the country to touch lives of children who are greatly in need, he posited that education is a fundamental right of children, adding that children in Ikija-Ijebu should not be left out.He expressed optimism that the materials donated will go a long way in motivating the children and helping them to achieve their educational goals.

In his remarks, Vincent Itoya, Account Manager, Nigeria IUX, disclosed that the NGO commissioned two blocks of classrooms it renovated in the school last month, urging stakeholders in the education sector and the community to assist in the provision of basic amenities for the community primary school.

Head Teacher of the school, Mrs Grace Oyewole, commended the NGO and its partner for the donation.
