The Lagos Chapter of Straight Outta Navy Town (SONT) rounded off 2024 with a series of impactful events aimed at promoting health, wellness, leadership, and unity within the Navy Town community. From health awareness campaigns to fitness programs, seminars, and an exciting end-of-year party, the chapter showcased its unwavering commitment to community development and personal growth.

Health Awareness with Medical Rhapsody

On December 6, 2024, SONT Lagos Chapter, in collaboration with NMODHIP, WRAIR, and Paradise Bound Movement (PBM), hosted Medical Rhapsody at the Navy Town Ojo Shopping Complex to commemorate World AIDS Day.

Community members accessed free health services, including HIV testing, blood sugar and blood pressure checks, alongside vital health education on prevention and early detection. The event was lauded for its positive impact and accessibility to critical medical services.

Fitness for all

The following day, December 7, 2024, residents gathered at the Navy Town Stadium for a fitness program sponsored by Kellogg and Ken Fitness. Participants engaged in aerobics, jogging, yoga, and circuit training under the guidance of professional trainers. The event fostered physical wellness and community spirit, leaving attendees energized and motivated.

Empowering seminars for success and leadership

On December 14, 2024, the Lagos Chapter hosted two highly informative seminars at the Navy Town Airbase Hall, also streamed online for broader participation:

“Setting Up and Maintaining a Business”*: Delivered by Coronation Trustee Limited, this session provided attendees with actionable strategies for financial planning, investment, and entrepreneurial success.

“The Importance of Mentorship in Leadership Development”*: Seye Awopetu Esq., a mentorship coach and legal practitioner, emphasized the transformative role of mentorship in leadership, inspiring attendees to both seek and offer mentorship opportunities.

Capping off the year’s activities was a vibrant end-of-year party on December 14, 2024, also held at the Navy Town Airbase Hall. The event featured:
