Rev. Moses Kayode James, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Sokoto State Chapter, has urged Christians to unite across denominations and ethnicities while calling on the government to halt ongoing bloodshed in Sokoto and Nigeria.
He spoke at the 2025 Easter Praise and Prayer Celebration in Sokoto on Sunday, April 20.
James emphasised the need for spiritual renewal and collective prayer, saying, “Today, we gather not merely to celebrate but for spiritual renewal, unity, and intercession. We unite across denominations, tribes, and tongues to raise our voices in praise and lift our hands in prayer.”
He prayed for peace, wisdom for leaders, and justice in communities.
Expressing concern over insecurity in Plateau, Benue, Taraba, Sokoto, Edo, and Borno, James urged the government to prioritise security, stating, “Security is a necessity; it is our right. Nigerians are entitled to live freely and safely.”
He stressed that any government failing to protect lives and property is ineffective.
He commended contributors to the Easter event and encouraged Christians to harness the resurrection’s power for Sokoto’s peace and Nigeria’s healing.
