Desmond Mgboh, Kano and Agaju Madugba, Katsina 

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has swept the three senatorial positions in Kano State. The party equally clinched the 22 House of Representatives seats for the state.

Results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the various senatorial headquarters showed the APC senators enjoyed a clear lead over their counterparts.

According to the results declared by INEC, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, APC’s candidate for Kano Central, polled 506,271 votes while Alhaji Sani Madaki, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came second with a total of 296,778 votes.  

In a similar manner, a former governor of the state, Senator Kabiru Gaya, was declared winner for Kano South, having secured 319, 004 votes to defeat Alhaji Sani Rogo, of the PDP, who scored 217, 520 votes.

In Kano North, APC senator Barau Jilbrin, was declared winner with 286,419 votes to defeat Garba Ahmed Bichi who polled 155, 638 votes.

In Katsina, it was also a landslide for the APC.

Senator  Babba Ahmed Kaita polled 339,438 votes to defeat Alhaji Mani Nassarawa of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who got 127,529 votes, for the Katsina North Senatorial zone.

For Katsina South, INEC’s Returning Officer, Aminu Dalhatu Kankia, said Bello Mandiya of the APC polled 433,139 to beat Imam Shehu Inuwa of the PDP who got 15,8081 votes.

And, for Katsina Central, the INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Rasheed Hamzat, declared Abdullahi Kabir Barkiya of the APC winner with 340,800 votes to defeat the PDP candidate, Hamisu Gambo, who got 124,372 votes.
