- Labour Party’s Darlington Nwokeocha emerges Minority Whip

The Senate on Tuesday announced the names of principal officers to preside over the Minority Leadership of the 10th Senate as agreed by the Minority Caucus of the Senate.
In an announcement made by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio after the Senate reconvened from a short closed-door session, Senator Mwadkwon Simon Davou of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from Plateau North was announced as the Minority Leader while Senator Oyewumi Kamorudeen of the same party was named as the Deputy Minority Leader.
Other officers include; Senator Darlington Nwokeocha of the Labour Party (LP) from Abia Central as the Minority Whip while Senator Rufai Hanga of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) will serve as the Deputy Minority Whip.
Shortly before then, the Senate President had announced the adoption of Senator Opeyemi Bamidele from Ekiti State as Senate Leader; Senator Dave Umahi from Ebonyi State as Deputy Senate Leader; Senator Ali Ndume from Borno State as Chief Whip and Senator Lola Ashiru from Kwara State as Deputy Chief Whip.
The All Progressives Congress (APC), with the largest number of members, which has produced the Majority leader, and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will produce the Minority leader has put to rest weeks of speculations and permutations over which of the Senators will preside over the remaining principal offices.
