The Senate Committee on Army has commended troops of Operation Hadin Kai for their recent successful counter-terrorism operation in Kukawa, Borno State, which led to the killing of a top Boko Haram/ISWAP commander, Amir Abu Fatima, and his lieutenants.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Chairman of the Committee, Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, described the precision strike as a major milestone in the fight against insurgency in the North East.
“The elimination of Abu Fatima, who had a ₦100 million bounty on his head, is a significant blow to the terrorist organisation,” Yar’adua said, praising the military’s strategic planning, intelligence gathering, and execution of the operation, which he noted resulted in no casualties for Nigerian troops.
He further said the operation reflected the bravery and commitment of the soldiers, expressing confidence that it would boost public confidence in the military’s capacity to restore peace and security in the region.
The Senate Committee reaffirmed its support for the Nigerian Army and pledged continued efforts to enhance the capacity of security forces. Yar’adua also congratulated the Chief of Army Staff and the entire Nigerian Army for what he called a “notable achievement” in the ongoing war against terrorism.
He urged security agencies to sustain the momentum and ensure insurgents are relentlessly pursued and dismantled.
