The Social Democratic Party (SDP) Youth Vanguard, Northwest Zone, has expressed confidence that the SDP will dominate the Northwest in the 2027 general elections.

At a press conference in Kaduna on Thursday, Zonal Coordinator Comrade Auwal Sani predicted a mass exodus from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the SDP, citing APC’s weaknesses.

Sani highlighted former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai as a key SDP leader, stating, “We are together with Nasir El-Rufai in the SDP and all those interested in moving the country forward through the party.” He added that the youth wing is ready to work with El-Rufai to elevate the party. “We have no dealings with all those miscreants who are sponsored to spoil the name of the leader of the SDP, Mr Adewole Adebayo,” Sani said, distancing the group from attacks on Adebayo.

Sani outlined the SDP’s transformation: “The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has undergone a significant transformation, evolving into a welcoming platform for Nigerians from all walks of life. Our doors are open to everyone who shares our vision for a better future.” He emphasised unity, noting that voters see the SDP as an alternative to the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Youth Vanguard denounced youths allegedly using their name to undermine Adebayo, apologising to him: “The SDP Youth Vanguard is using this medium to apologise to Prince Adewole Adebayo on behalf of those youths who may be misled to carry out that unfortunate activity.” They vowed to report future offenders to authorities.

Sani urged Nigerians to join the SDP and register at ward levels per the party’s constitution, predicting a bright future: “The future of Nigeria is bright, and we are proud to be part of it. We will continue to work towards a better tomorrow for all Nigerians.”
