Over 15 patients have been treated for various ailments in the ongoing Christ Compassion for Rural World 2023 (CCRW) crusade medical outreach at the Ikorodu General Hospital.

CCRW 2023, convened by Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, president and senior pastor of Kingsway International Christian Church (KICC) is aimed at extending the love and compassion of God to remote villages and communities in an experiential and evidential manner.

Olalekan Ajayi, one of the CCRW surgeons, said the surgeries carried out range from removal of tumours, hernia, and other corrective treatments.

He said some of the patients had lived with their ailments for years but could not afford the of surgeries.

“For a lot of these people, this is an opportunity to get rid of a condition that they could not have handled on their own. There are a lot we could not treat because the scope of our surgery is constrained to surgeries that we will do and the patients will go home same day. So many people came during the series of screening we did earlier but we declined some of them because the kind of surgeries they require are more technical and complex. The general hospital has been very generous by giving us space and everything we require.”

Esther Ajayi, head pharmacist of the CCRW Crusade 2023, said the medical outreach covers not just the corrective surgeries but also all the post operation drugs the patients need to recover.

She said: “This medical outreach also covers all the post operation drugs the patients need to recover. After the surgeries, the doctors prescribe the drugs the patients have to take during their recovery process. The patients bring the prescription to the pharmacy and we dispense.”

One of the beneficiaries, Ruth, 28 said the outreach afforded her the opportunity to remove a tumour in her bosom that she had to live with for 11 years because she could not afford the cost of surgery.

She thanked CCRW for the Christ Compassion Crusade 2023 and prayed God to bless and continue to enlarge the coast of Ashimolowo.

“I want to thank CCRW, if not for Ashimolowo, I wouldn’t have been able to do this surgery so I want to thank him, God will continue to bless him,” she said.
