In a major step toward enhancing healthcare quality in Nigeria, SafeCare has entered into a formal partnership with Monitor Healthcare Limited to launch a quality-focused initiative aimed at transforming healthcare delivery across the country.
The partnership was officially unveiled at a high-level event in Lagos, themed “Partnering with SafeCare: Improving Quality and Ensuring No Healthcare Facility is Left Behind.” The launch drew participation from the Lagos State Ministry of Health, healthcare providers, medical directors of secondary and tertiary institutions, development partners, regulatory bodies, and heads of healthcare associations. The event served as a platform to both celebrate the initiative and strategize on institutionalizing quality in Nigeria’s health sector.
Key stakeholders in attendance included the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr. Ademuyiwa Eniayewun; the National President of the Association of Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners (ANPMP), Dr. Kay Adesola; the National President, Guild of Medical Directors, Dr. Raymond Kuti; the Chief Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Metta, Dr. Adedamola Dada; Deputy Managing Director of the Society for Family Health Nigeria, Dr. Jennifer Anyanti; amongst others.

Participants heard crucial testimonials from health facilities already implementing the SafeCare methodology, illustrating tangible improvements in clinical quality, patient safety, and operational efficiency. The event also featured a panel discussion that addressed the challenges of implementation, shared success stories, and explored practical strategies to scale quality improvement efforts across the healthcare system. Another key session focused on integrating quality standards into licensing, accreditation, and broader regulatory reforms.
The panel featured leading experts in the healthcare space, including Dr. Abiola Idowu, Permanent Secretary of the Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA); Dr. Ngozi Onyia, Founder, Paelon Memorial Hospital represented by Dr Unoma Grant, COO, Paelon Memorial Hospital; Dr. Oge Ilegbune, Medical Director at Lakeshore Cancer Centre; and Dr. Sola Pitan, Medical Director at Orile Agege General Hospital. Speaking at the event, Mrs. Njide Ndili, Country Director of PharmAccess Nigeria, described the partnership as a strategic move to promote inclusive and equitable healthcare. “This partnership with Monitor Healthcare Ltd is a strategic move to ensure that more healthcare facilities—no matter their size or location—have access to the tools and support needed to deliver high-quality care,” she said. “It’s about inclusion, equity, and transformation. This partnership is more than a milestone—it’s a model. It reflects our vision to ensure that everyone has access to quality care, and it is only the beginning.”

Delivering a goodwill message at the event, Dr. Kay Adesola commended the initiative and emphasized the need for ongoing collaboration. “Quality must not be a privilege—it should be the standard. What SafeCare and Monitor Healthcare are doing is setting a benchmark that others can follow. This partnership proves that with unity of purpose and the right tools, we can raise the bar for healthcare delivery across Nigeria.”
Peggy Imoniovu, Project Manager at SafeCare and moderator of the panel discussion, underscored the importance of the initiative. “This partnership demonstrates that quality healthcare is not a distant dream—it’s a decision we make, a system we build, and a promise we must keep to every patient,” she said.
With the successful launch now complete, the SafeCare–Monitor Healthcare Ltd collaboration aims to extend its reach, bolster regulatory structures, and institutionalize quality improvement at every level of the healthcare system in Nigeria.
