Another bout of major injuries hit Nigeria when Chelsea forward, Victor Moses and Isaac Success from Watford were ruled out of Sunday’s World Cup qualifier in Zambia.
Officials disclosed that both players had withdrawn from the game in Ndola on account of injuries.
“Both Moses and Success are out of the match due to injury,” thenff.com revealed on Monday.
Victor Moses, playing a new role as a wing-back, was man of the match for Chelsea in a 2-0 win at Hull City on Saturday, but he said on Twitter his hamstrings will have to be assessed by his London club.
Success, 20, on the other hand was set to honour his first Super Eagles call-up after he scored his first Premier League goal at the weekend at home against Bournemouth but was now ruled out of the clash against Zambia.
Germany-based defender, Leon Balogun was the first key player to pull out of the squad ahead of the tie against Zambia after he suffered an injury in action for Mainz 05.
As expected, Nigeria national team manager, Gernot Rohr had named late replacements for both players on his 23-man squad. Rohr yesterday called top-flight NPFL stars Chisom Egbuchulam and Godwin Obaje for the match. The replacements were Rohr’s instant reaction to letters from English Premiership clubs Chelsea and Watford concerning the fact that the strikers were injured and will not be available for the Super Eagles’ crunch encounter with Zambia. The Eagles training camp in Abuja opened yesterday and the team is expected to fly out Friday to Zambia.
Meanwhile, Kelechi Iheanacho will hit the Super Eagles Bolton White Hotels and Apartments camp in Abuja today, October 4, according to his father.
When quizzed,  Kelechi’s dad, James Iheanacho, reiterated that the Manchester City striker is coming for the all-important World Cup qualifier.
“I have been in touch with Kelechi, he is coming from England and will be in Nigeria. I called him and he said he will be available for the game ( against Zambia).”
