Manchester United’s new manager Ruben Amorim’s arrival at the club has suffered a setback due to visa issues.
Despite the Portuguese’s contract officially commencing on Monday, Amorim will not resume training at Carrington because he is yet to receive his work permit.
While fans and pundits await Amorim’s arrival, club legend Ruud Van Nistelrooy continues to steer the team following his victory over Leicester during the weekend.
39-year-old Amorim said his goodbyes to Sporting Lisbon in their clash against Braga which ended in 4-2, securing his 100 per cent record win in the league this season after 11 games.
He arrives with his staff and as of the time of filing this report hasn’t decided whether or not Nistelrooy will be a part of his managerial team.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have expressed interest in signing Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea during the January transfer window, according to international sports outlets.
Nkunku has been in superb form so far, netting 10 goals in 17 appearances for the Blues. If the deal goes through, he will be Amorim’s first signing.
While Nkunku is yet to inform Chelsea of his desire to leave, reports say several clubs have already begun announcing his availability.
It was stated that Chelsea may be open to allowing the 26-year-old to leave in the coming year.
