Members of the Rotary Club of Satellite Town, Lagos has staged a walk across major toads in Satellite Town to create awareness about the club’s existence in the area for residents of the town and its environs.

The road show which saw members distributing leaflets and glass covers to hotels, bars, restaurants and lounges, according to the President, Elizabeth Tabara, was aimed at attracting more members to the club.

She said: “August is Rotary membership month and we do all sorts of things to create awareness. Last week, there was a seminar but this week, we just want to do awareness in our environment so that people will know that Rotary is here. We also want them to know the projects we do.

“Today, we are embarking on a road walk to create awareness all over Satellite Town about the Rotary Club’s existence in the town. This is because we want more members to join us and see what we are doing.

“We distributed glass covers to restaurants, bars, lounges and hotels. The idea is that when people are drinking, they will read about us on the glass cover and through the process, they will get to know about us, where we meet and everything about us, including our contact phone numbers. It is also a membership awareness strategy because we want more people to join us and help humanity. Rotary is about humanity; it is service above self. More people should join to make impacts in Satellite and its environs,” she said.

On her decision to embark on the road show, she also said it was to meet her target of doubling the current membership number which stands at 40. As an irresistible magic president, one of my agendas in this Rotary year is to win more members because the more we are, the more projects we do, and the more people we can help. Currently, we are 40 members, but my target is to double the number; that is getting 80 and possibly, more members before the end of this Rotary year,” she said.
