The Rotary Club, Anthony Golden, in partnership with the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has launched a sanitation exercise along the Oworonshoki Expressway, near the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness about proper sanitation practices and the vital role sanitation workers play in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

President of the Rotary Club, Chidi Ogu, emphasized that the clean-up campaign was designed to support and celebrate LAWMA’s sanitation workers, whom he described as “hygiene heroes.”

“We believe a clean community is a healthy community,” he said. “That’s why we’re here, not just to clean, but to recognize and reward the diligence of those who work every day to keep our environment safe.”

Beyond the clean-up, the event featured informative sessions that educated attendees on effective hygiene and sanitation methods. These sessions also encouraged participants to take an active role in environmental stewardship and community clean-up efforts.

The club seeks to inspire lasting change and a culture of responsibility toward environmental health. It expressed deep appreciation to all participants, especially the LAWMA workers, whose daily contributions are essential to maintaining public cleanliness.
