From Oluseye Ojo, Ibadan

Leadership of Christians, Muslims and traditional religion worshippers have waded into the crisis between Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso I, and Governor Abiola Ajimobi over the recent review of the 1959 Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration.
The review by the state government upgraded some chiefs and made them crown-wearing monarchs in Ibadan.
The upgrade has been resisted by Oba Adetunji, who has already gone to court, over the matter, and a former governor of the state, Chief Rasheed Ladoja.
Ladoja is also Osi Olubadan.
Regardless, the religious leaders met with Olubadan, last week, with the aim of brokering peace between the monarch and the governor.
The meeting between the monarch and the religious leaders reportedly lasted more than two hours.
Pastor Samuel Abiara of Christ Apostolic Church and Apostle Sunday Popoola, of World Communications Ministry (WOCOM) represented the Christian body, while Chief Imam of Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria, Oyo State branch, Dr. Basiru Olanrewaju and Alhaji Daud Alaga, represented the Islamic religion.
Members of Traditional Religion Worshippers  Association in Oyo state were led by Chief Fayemi Fakayode and Dasola Adefabi.
They have also declared a three-day fasting and prayers session; for quick resolve of the chieftancy crisis.
They, however, warned that the feud might degenerate if urgent steps were not taken and added that they would meet with the governor after the spiritual exercise.
Popoola told newsmen after meeting with Olubadan that the fasting and prayers would start today and urged adherents of the three religions to observe the exercise.
“We have observed that there have been some misunderstanding, over the issue of newly-appointed Obas in Ibadan.
“We knew it could degenerate into crisis as religious leaders, both Muslims and Christians and traditionalists, we came to meet Kabiyesi to appeal to him. We just appeal for peace.
“We also plan to see the governor.
“But, what we have concluded is to go and have three days more of fasting and prayers.  Muslims should fast and pray today, Tuesday and Wednesday and Christians should fast and pray in all churches in Oyo state, today, Tuesday and Wednesday and after that, we will meet the governor.
“We believe we are the people that can resolve this matter, and, by the grace of God, we believe God will resolve the matter through us.”
