The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, has appealed to the people of Kano State and the North West to reciprocate the love demonstrated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the people of the region.
Barau, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and senator representing Kano North Senatorial District, spoke in Kabo town during the official ceremony marking the upgrade of Federal Polytechnic Kabo to Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo, on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
He said the President has repeatedly demonstrated his love for Kano North, Kano State, and the North West region, noting that education remained the greatest gift any leader could extend to his people.
Barau provided vivid examples of the President’s deeds. “We told Mr President that our priority was the upgrade of the Federal College of Education, Kabo, to a Federal University. He simply said, ‘Bring it, I will sign it.’ And he signed it,” he stated.
He further revealed that, following the upgrade, he again requested the establishment of another Federal Polytechnic in Kabo, which the President consented to and approved.
“Mr President has demonstrated that he cares about the grassroots, and when you educate the grassroots, you are building the foundation of every society,” Barau said.
“Every request we have taken to him, he has approved. That is the true mark of a responsive leader.”
“I say this without hesitation: President Tinubu loves the people of Kano, the North West, and the North at large. He has never turned down any of our development proposals,” he added.
He, therefore, urged the people of Kano North, Kano State, and the region to support the President in his bid to secure a second term in office, insisting that he deserved every bit of their support.
Dignitaries from within and outside the state attended the ceremony, which was characterised by widespread celebrations among the people of the area.
