Michael Onyeachor, a Nigerian sociologist-turned-entrepreneur, is drawing national attention for his groundbreaking efforts in reshaping real estate accessibility across the country through his company, Besitz Group.
At just a few years into its establishment, the firm has become a lifeline for young Nigerians, particularly millennials and Gen Zs, striving to attain property ownership in an increasingly expensive market.
A graduate of Sociology from the University of Ilorin, Onyeachor began his career in advertising and finance.
However, it wasn’t long before he identified a gap in Nigeria’s real estate sector—particularly the exclusion of younger demographics from property ownership due to high costs and rigid systems.
In 2022, he joined forces with Isa Abass Usman to create Besitz Group (Besitz Limited), a real estate company built on the idea of democratizing access to property.
“Real estate shouldn’t be a privilege; it’s a fundamental right. We’re here to make that right accessible to all,” Onyeachor said in an interview. This philosophy has become the driving force behind Besitz Group’s rapid growth and its mission to bridge the affordability gap in Nigeria’s housing market.
Originally focused on Abuja—a city notorious for its high real estate costs—the company quickly expanded its services beyond the youth market to accommodate all social classes and age groups. According to Onyeachor, this decision was based on their discovery that the housing crisis cut across different generations and income levels. “Once we started, we realized the problem was bigger than we thought. Everyone deserves the dignity of having a place they can call their own,” he said.
Besitz Group’s growth has been nothing short of remarkable. From humble beginnings, the company now operates in Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Benin, and boasts a growing clientele of over 1,000 clients, landlords, and investors across four continents. Onyeachor credits this success to the brotherly bond and synergy he shares with co-founder Usman, as well as the company’s inclusive business model and simplified acquisition process.
“Our approach is different because we focus on ease, transparency, and trust. We don’t just sell land or property—we provide pathways to ownership.”
