In a resounding display of public support, three outstanding First Ladies—Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Chief Mrs. Mary-Maudlin Nwifuru (Ebonyi), and Dr. Nonye Soludo (Anambra)—have emerged winners in their respective categories at the forthcoming 2025 Nigerian Humanitarian Awards & Magazine, following a massive nationwide voting exercise.
The prestigious national event, organized by the Humanitarian Achievements and Outreach Foundation, celebrates transformational leaders and changemakers who have demonstrated extraordinary service to humanity across Nigeria.
Set to be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, this year’s edition features the theme:
“Building Bridges of Hope: Transforming Lives with Compassion and Innovation.”
Each First Lady was honored in distinct categories based on their humanitarian track records and the overwhelming support they received from members of the public during the open voting window:
• Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, First Lady of Zamfara State – First Lady of the Year 2025
• Chief Mrs. Mary-Maudlin Nwifuru, First Lady of Ebonyi State – First Lady of the Year (Educational Development)
• Dr. (Mrs.) Nonye Soludo, First Lady of Anambra State – First Lady of the Year (Healthcare & Child Support)
Their nominations were driven by verified community impact projects ranging from grassroots education and child development to maternal healthcare and gender-focused empowerment across the states.
According to the Project Director, Mr. Emmanuel Anabueze, the recognition is “a product of both impact and the people’s voice, reflecting the trust and admiration these leaders have earned through visible, consistent service.”
The event will also feature the launch of the 2025 Humanitarian Impact Magazine, the unveiling of the Impact Lab Workshop, and a host of honors recognizing leaders in philanthropy, government, private sector, and development spaces.
This year’s Humanitarian Award ceremony is expected to draw high-level dignitaries, diplomats, nonprofit executives, and media stakeholders.
