From Priscilla Ediare, Ado-Ekiti

Renowned cleric and planter of Christ Apostolic Church(CAC) Adamimogo Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain Worldwide, Prophet Sam Olu Alo, has emphasized the need for the people of the country to show love to one another, imbibe the spirit of selflessness and avoid wasting resources, saying it will help in tackling the high poverty rate in the country as well as surmount other numerous challenges.

He also charged wealthy and well-to-do Nigerians to always engage in humanitarian assistance to support the underprivileged people in the society for them to have a sense of belonging in nation building.

The man of God stated these on Sunday while giving financial assistance and clothing to 1,200 poor widows, aged, and scholarships to students of secondary schools in Ido-Ekiti, his country home in Ekiti State, noting that the annual event which is the eleventh edition was aimed at putting smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries with a view to raising their hopes in life.

Speaking on how the ravaging poverty situation and other challenges in the country can be adequately tackled, Prophet Olu Alo who was represented by two of his subordinates, Prophet Asonibare Ayomide and Mr Deji Ogunbusuyi said: ” If we can have the spirit of love. This is what I see that is missing. If you look at today’s congregation, we have Muslims, we have Non-Christians. It’s not about Christianity now, It’s about humanity. If we love each other, we would be able to touch lives.

“This is the example that the Lord has been using Prophet Sam Olu Alo for. If we can learn from him or we are able to do exactly or more than what he has been doing, I want to believe that this country will be better.

“Secondly, If we can do away with selfishness, I believe this country will go a long way. If we can as well do away with wastefulness and can spend our resources on things that matter, bringing up the upcoming generation in the way of the Lord and love, I believe this country will be better.”

Responding to how preaching of the gospel can be employed to address the socio-economic problems confronting the country, the cleric posited that poverty to him, has nothing to do with religion.

According to him, ” Every bad follower will always produce bad leaders. If we must eradicate poverty in this country, poverty has nothing to do with religion.

“Let me say again that we as Christians does not mean that we will be rich or poor. Poverty has to do with finding something. Even as a believer, fine, gospel is good, but gospel does not really mean that poverty will be taken away.

“Please, I stand to be corrected. If you attend a church and you don’t have a job you are doing, go and find something to do. You can go into agriculture, we have a lot of work we can involve ourselves in.”

Speaking on the event, the religious leader said : “This programme holds yearly. Today’s one will be marking the eleventh year that the Lord has been using our father, Prophet Sam Olu Alo to empower the youths and also to encourage the elderly and to assist students of the less privileged who could not get funds to further their academic pursuits.

“The Lord has put it in the heart of our father to actually be of help to the upcoming generation. And like what is happening today, now he is giving out some token to make them happy and also scholarships for the students. That is what normally happens once in a year in this particular ministry.”

Appreciating the gesture on behalf of the students, one of the beneficiaries and student of Christ’s Girls School, Ado-Ekiti, Miss Adetona Moyinoluwa, said:” I want to say thank you to our father, Prophet Sam Olu Alo for his benevolence.

“I want to say a very big thank you on behalf of students all over who have benefitted in one way or the other from his benevolence. I pray that the Almighty God will continue to bless him, to keep him and that God will continue to protect him and his Ministry shall continue to flourish in Jesus name.”
