Coalition of Northern Groups, has attributed the killings of innocent civilians in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State to lack of centralized command structure within the security forces.
The National Coordinator, Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi stated this at a world press conference held in Abuja, yesterday.
Charanchi said that the role of the security forces need to be clearly defined to ensure effective coordination and collaboration is discharging security duties.
He said ” We the CNG condemned the killings of innocent civilians in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State and strongly rejects the explanation put forth by the military that the Kaduna attack was accidental
Lack of coordination in the operations of the Nigerian Armed Forces, so we call on President Tinubu to prioritize the establishment of a centralized command structure within the security forces. This structure should clearly define the roles and responsibilities of each arm, ensuring effective coordination and collaboration.
We also call on the government to invest in modern communication systems that enable real-time information sharing and enhance interagency cooperation.
He added that there must be a comprehensive, transparent, independent investigation into the Kaduna incident to ensure that all those responsible are identified and brought to justice.
According to him,” To prevent the repetition of history, where reports on sensitive issues are consigned to dusty files in government offices, we demand an independent investigation led by credible elders and reputable community leaders.
In years, numerous reports on sensitive issues have been commissioned by the federal government, only to be left forgotten and gathering dust in the archives of history.
We demand adequate compensation for the victims of the Kaduna killings not only a means of providing financial support to the affected families but also a gesture of acknowledgment and empathy
