Police in Anambra State have vowed to fish out killers of Chief Joe Mohale, the chairman of Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Nanka Ward 1, Orumba North Local Government Area, Anambra State.

Unknown assailants shot the YPP chieftain dead last Saturday, shortly after he organised a meeting between the member representing Orumba North and South in the House of Representatives, Princess Chinwe Nnabuife and her Nanka constituents.

The Court of Appeal in Lagos recently upheld the ruling of the National and State Assembly Election Tribunal, calling for a repeat election for the federal constituency in the ward.

Police spokesman in the state, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the killing, said the Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, condemned the dastardly act in the strongest terms. He described the killers as cowards who have murdered sleep.

“They might think they have committed a perfect crime and that they would get away with it, but they delude themselves. The police are already working on vital clues to unmask the perpetrators,” he stated.

Ikenga said the Anambra police boss has reassured the public not to be afraid, but join hands with the command in bringing the murderers and their sponsor to justice. The Senator representing Anambra South, Ifeanyi Ubah, has condemned the murder of his known political ally.

The Anambra State chapter of YPP also condemned the killing and called on the police, the Department of State Service (DSS) and other relevant security agencies to swing into action and apprehend those behind the killing.
