The Federal Capital Territory(FCT), police command said it has disbursed N25 million to families of 29, deceased Police Officers of the ranks of Assistant Superintendents of Police ( ASP), Inspectors, Sergeants, and Civilian staff attached to the command between the years 2020 to 2021.
The monies, the Command said was paid to the Next of Kins of the deceased officers at a ceremony held at the Command Headquarters in Abuja.
Police Public Relations Officer in incharge of the commamd, Josephine Adeh, who made this known, said the Commissioner police Babaji Sunday, while commiserating with the families over the loss, said the money was to support them and urged them to make good use of it.
Adeh, in a statement said “In fulfillment of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman psc(+) NPM, fdc Family welfare insurance scheme policy, marked periodically by the approval and disbursements of insurance Cheque, the FCT Commissioner of Police CP Babaji Sunday psc on Thursday 21st July 2022 distributed insurance Cheques worth 25million naira.
The cheques were presented to the next of Kins of Twenty-nine (29) deceased Police Officers of the ranks of Assistant Superintendents of Police ( ASP), Inspectors, Sergeants, and Civilian staff attached to the command between the years 2020 to 2021.
The Commissioner of Police while extending his condolence to the beneficiaries of the deceased, noted that the money presented was in no way a payment for the lives and services of their loved ones but a way to show them that the Force remembers the labor of their loved ones in life and death. He urged them to make meaningful use of the benefits to make life better, covering up for the absence of their benefactors.
A representative of the beneficiaries while expressing his appreciation to the Force through the Commissioner of Police promised judicious use of the token, praying God’s blessing on the command and the Nigeria Police Force as a whole.
