The Bayelsa State Police Command has identified a corpse found in a hotel room along Igbogene community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state to be that of a suspected commercial sex worker.
According to the Police, the deceased was a 22-year-old commercial sex worker living at Ashawo Quarters, along Okarki community, a neighbouring town to Bayelsa state.
The confirmation of the identity of the corpse has put to rest the claim that the deceased was a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Bayelsa state Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO),Musa Mohammed, confirmed that the incident has triggered a forensic investigation to unravel the identity of the suspected killer.
Mohammed disclosed that the deceased, lodged in the hotel in company with a partner suspected to be an Internet fraudster, popularly known as Yahoo boy, who is on the run.
“ The deceased is identified as Miss Francisca Otu, 22,an Indigene of Omubo community in Akwa Ibom state.
“ A receptionist at the Favour Home Guest House, Rachael Adaora, called the police to inform us that the body of the deceased was found naked and lifeless in one of the rooms.
“ The DPO led a team of policemen from Igbogene Police Division to the scene and evacuated the corpse”, he said.
