Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force, Enugu State Command have arrested two male suspects over an alleged involvement in armed robbery in Obinagu-Etiti Nara-Unateze in Nkanu East Local Government Area of the state.

The commands spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe who made this known in a statement on Tuesday said the suspects; Chekwube Nwobodo aged 27, and Ifeanyi Edeh aged 30, were arrested on January 3, at about 2.40 p.m.

He said that one locally fabricated pistol with two live cartridges, pieces of substance suspected to be crystal meth (otherwise known as Mpkuru-Mmiri), and a quantity of weed suspected to be marijuana were recovered from the suspects.

“The suspects and gang members at large are alleged to have carried out a series of armed robberies, burglaries, and other criminal activities in the mentioned area. But having met their Waterloo, the suspects shall have the court of law to contend with once investigations are concluded.

“This operational success is in alignment with the 2024 New Year assurances of the Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, to the good people of Enugu State, that the Command will be more proactive and forward-looking in its policing approach this new year. Hence, the CP reassures that the Police commitment to actualize this remains unwavering,” he said.
