Plateau State House of Assembly has nullified the impeachment of the Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council, Hon. Bitrus Zulfa Rimven and ordered that a status quo should be maintained.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda nullified the impeachment during a plenary yesterday and said the Legislators did not served the Chairman with an impeachment notice.

The House also set up a committee headed by Hon. Baba Hassan to investigate the grievances raised by the local government legislators and furnished the House within one week.

Recalled that some legislators from the Legislative Arm of Langtang North Local Government had on Tuesday allegedly impeached the Chairman, Hon. Bitrus Zulfa Rimven after a vote of no confidence was passed on him.

The Executive Chairman, Hon. Bitrus Zulfa Rimven applauded the decision of the House for nullifying the alleged impeachment on him and said he remained the chairman of the council.

“The Plateau House in it’s resolution noted that the action of the Langtang North Legislative Arm is null and void as such, the status quo should be maintained pending the investigation of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy, chaired by Hon. Ibrahim Baba Hassan.

“I want you all to know that I remain the Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council ad will continue to working out modalities to better the lives of Langtang people.”

Rimven described the alleged impeachment by some legislators as scandalous, irritating and laughable.

” I was not served an impeachment notice on the 31 August, 2022 and not to think of failing to respond to any allegations the legislators raised. On the allegations of corruption levelled against me by some legislators, I say that this are lies from the pit of hell.

“As the Executive Chairman of Langtang North and my Councilors are one big family and we would resolve our differences soon.” He stated.
