He is expected to succeed Prof. Emmanuel Osodoke, who has completed his term in office as ASUU President, and had put in good effort to strengthen the union and secure the welfare of members of the union, among others.

Prof Piwuna is also expected to continue from where his predecessors, particularly the immediate past one, stopped in terms of pushing for the welfare of the members, improved status of the Nigerian university system and several other issues.

Piwuna is a consultant psychiatrist at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital, while his predecessor, Emmanuel Osodoke, is a professor of soil science from the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State.
