From Jude Chinedu, Enugu

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Jerry Onuokaibe, has commended the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, for approving the construction of several urban and rural roads worth N183 billion across the state.

Onuokaibe, the Chief Executive Officer of First Choice Afro Villa Ltd, who made this known through a statement in Enugu, added that he was particularly excited with the award of the Nomeh-Mburubu-Nara, as well as the Mburubu-Nkerefi Roads.

He noted that Governor Mbah has shown total commitment to the welfare of the people, as the roads among others, which he approved last week, were of immense value to the people.

He noted that the road would boost the economic activities of Mburubu people, a community renowned for its massive investment in agriculture.

“The Nomeh-Mburubu-Nara Road project holds immense significance for the people of Mburubu. This strategic infrastructure development will not only improve connectivity within our community, but also enhance access to neighbouring towns and markets. By bridging the gap between rural and urban areas, this project will stimulate economic activities, promote trade, and foster social integration.

“Governor Mbah’s dedication to infrastructural development is evident in the comprehensive nature of these projects. The dualisation of major roads, the construction of bridges, and the development of smart schools, are clear indicators of a visionary leadership committed to sustainable growth and improved living standards for all residents of Enugu State.

“The allocation of over N400 billion to capital expenditure in the 2024 budget, with a capital expenditure to budget ratio of over 80 percent, underscores the government’s focus on tangible, long-term investments. This prioritisation of infrastructure reflects a deep understanding of the critical role that roads and other public works play in driving economic development and social well-being.

“For the people of Mburubu, the construction of the Nomeh-Mburubu-Nara and Mburubu-Nkerefi Roads will be transformative. It will facilitate the efficient transportation of agricultural produce to markets, reduce travel time, and enhance access to essential services such as healthcare and education. These roads will be lifelines, fostering opportunities for business and improving the overall quality of life.

“We are confident that the improved road infrastructure will attract further investments into Mburubu and its surrounding areas. This influx of investment will lead to job creation, increased productivity, and enhanced socio-economic stability for our people. The ripple effects of such development cannot be overstated.”
