Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti, former Governor of Akwa Ibom State Emmanuel Udom, and the Senator representing Abia South Senatorial District, Enyinnaya Abaribe, are set to grace the annual conference of the United Evangelical Church (UEC), scheduled for December 9 to 13, in Aba, Abia State.
The member representing Aba South/Aba North Federal Constituency, Hon. Alex Ikwecheghi, is also among dignitaries expected at the event.
Also on the list of those expected to attend are the national leader of the church, Rev. Samuel Udeme Ebukeba; General Secretary of the Church, Rev. Chimaobi Gabriel Acho; and the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the church, Elder Joe Abraham (SAN).
The annual conference, with the theme “Notable and Undeniable Good Success, Joshua 1:8,” holding at the Aba Area Conference, will feature all the faithful of the church in Nigeria and overseas.
Briefing journalists, Secretary of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the annual conference, Rev. T.O.E. Ikpeoha, who confirmed the attendance of the guests, disclosed that the church would use the opportunity to offer prayers for Christianity, the raising of godly people, and the peace of the Nigerian nation.
He also assured that the conference would pray for President Bola Tinubu, for God to guide him and other leaders to build a godly nation where the welfare of the masses takes priority.
Ikpeoha equally stated that the conference would also ordain new ministers and assess the activities of the UEC in the past year, especially in the area of raising godly people and making an impact on society.
“The 137th annual conference of the United Evangelical Church in Nigeria will hold in Aba, from 9th to 13th December, at the headquarters of the Aba Area Conference, along Ikot Ekpene Road.
“The nation is in a very bad situation, and it is affecting the faithful. Therefore, the church will not shy away from making its voice heard in pleading with God for intervention. There is a need for national repentance and healing for things to be right again.
“People are suffering, they can’t afford food, taxes are increasing, and everyone is crying because of the hardship in the land.
“We are praying for God to touch the heart of the President so that he can institute welfare programmes because people are suffering. Government should have a human face; we need policies, but we also need to survive.”
Ikpeoha said that despite the fact that things are bad, since there is nothing God cannot do for His people, Christians should have faith and hope that tomorrow will be better.
