A group of youths under the aegis of Hello Osogbo in Osun State have advocated the promotion of tourism to foster social and economic development, social cohesion, and peace.
The youths noted that the potential of tourism has not been explored for the betterment of the people.
The Founder, Olokuntoye Omoaladeiyanu fondly called Pearl Nova, who spoke to our correspondent on Wednesday, stated that ‘Hello Osogbo’ serves as a dedicated tourist information guide with a mission to reshape the perception of Osogbo and inspire people to visit and explore the potential in the city.
The team, two months after its inception, recently organized an event tagged ‘Lake Escape’ with over one thousand fun lovers in attendance having brought into the limelight the Owalla Dam which is located at Pakiti, a rural area in Osogbo, the Osun capital.
The team also organized a broadly talked about Karaoke event (Karaoke and Booze) with the second edition of Lake Escape where hundreds of young entrepreneurs displayed their various crafts to promote entrepreneurship, talents, and vocational skills.
Also, the co-founder of Hello Osogbo, Kolajo Uthman otherwise known as Stallion said “Being residents in the city and seeing the new facilities springing up around the town, but not getting the deserved visibility they should be getting, we took it upon ourselves to act on this gap.
“Without proper visibility of these places, it takes even residents of the city a while before they discover these spots, by extension, tourists and visitors who come to the capital feel there is not much to explore in the city, and the perception of Osogbo as a boring city continues.
“This is the need that Hello Osogbo has come to satisfy, giving these facilities the deserved visibility that can have a ripple effect in their patronage and shoot up their revenue and also make residents, tourists, and visitors enjoy the city and have loads of options to explore for their varying experiences.
“The testament from our followership on Instagram has attested to Hello Osogbo doing a great job to change the face of Osogbo,” he said.
