The Osun State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), on Monday disclosed that it has arrested 315 suspects in connection with illicit drug in the last one year.
The state commander, Nnadi Chidi, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on International Day Against Drug Abuse.
He said a total of 315 suspects comprising 279 males and 36 females were arrested for drug related offences while the illicit drugs seized weighed 4,776.38644kg.
The drugs seized, according to Chidi include 4,735.033kg of cannabis sativa, 7.909kg of diazepam, 4.896kg of tramadol, 0.40956grms of methamphetamine and 0.413grms of rophynol.
Others are, 160grms of benazine, 12.713kg of skushies, 0.011grms of molly, 1.8kg of codeine, and 47grms of cocaine.
He said, “out of the 315 suspects arrested, 75 were briefly counseled and reintegrated back to their families while 70 suspects were successfully prosecuted and convicted.
“It is also worthy of note that within the period of review, 3.3 hectares of cannabis farm was destroyed at Owena Area, Oriade LGA of Osun State.
