The Osun State Chapter of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has elected Abisola Ariwodola, as its new chairperson.

Ariwodola who emerges unopposed is a member of the Ministry of Information Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

In her speech, Ariwodola described the new position as a call to service and promised to discharge the duty to the benefit of women journalists and advocate a better position for women in the state.

She appealed to the state government to consider the inclusion of women in the development of the state, assuring that the association would do everything to support the government of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

“It is a call to serve. We call on the government to prioritise the inclusion of women in the development of Osun. We are ready to support the government. We are ready for service and we shall strive to deliver to the best of our ability and in the interest of women,” Ariwodola said.

The Vice President of NAWOJ, B-Zone, Adeola Adekunle, advised the new chairperson to carry every member along through regular communication.

She urged the exco to always fight for the protection of girl child rights, and the vulnerable and campaign for child education.

The association also elected Oluwaranti Ojewumi as the Secretary, Taiwo kekereekun as Assistant Secretary, Temitope Olayiwola as Treasurer, Olayemi Olojede as Financial Secretary and Aanuoluwapo Odedeji as Auditor.
