The Executive Council of Osun State Government has denied rumours that Governor Ademola Adeleke is planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) even as the council declared its loyalty to his government.
Speaking at a press conference organised by 25 commissioners and 10 special advisers, yesterday, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dosu Babatunde, described as mere rumours, claims that the governor was planning to defect to the opposition party in the state.
Babatunde, who is the Secretary, Forum of Commissioners, said the entire members of the Osun State Executive Council had pledged their total solidarity and unwavering support to Governor Adeleke in his undying quest to take Osun to greater heights.
Responding to a question on whether they were ready to move with the governor should he decide to dump the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Babatunde said Adeleke will not leave the PDP.
He said: “The governor is a PDP governor, and many governors in Nigeria appreciate his developmental effort in Osun State. He is not moving to any political party. It is even wicked to think along that line. We are very close to him; we are members of the Executive Council, and we have decided to remain in the PDP and take PDP to greater heights. He is going to continue his developmental strides in the PDP.”
